Five police officers were accused of kidnapping Chinese tourists for ransom.

Thai law enforcement authorities have pressed charges against Phra Yun, the fourth police officer arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Chinese tourists for ransom. Earlier, four other officers were detained and temporarily removed from duty. The investigation believes that the crime may be linked to activities of transnational criminal organizations. This has placed the probe under special control by national authorities. The incident occurred in Sa Kaeo province, on the border with Cambodia, which is long considered one of the key points of cross-border crime in Thailand.
